It scares me that in a matter of years both of the World Wars will be assigned only to paper, and no longer saved in living memory.

Actually, it is sad that nobody has bothered to leave a comment on this post regardless of how brief the verbage you posted.
I wish we had the same heroic values and perseverence of that generation. We owe them everything and so few people bother to treat these people with the reverence they deserve.
I say reverence because it goes beyond the word respect. Revenerence infers that they have delivered grace onto others… which indeed they did.
