Finding that newspaper clipping reminded of this animation; ‘The Man Who Planted Trees’, based on a short story by Jean Giono (of the same title). This short animation won an oscar back in 1987, the year I was born.
Many people were so enchanted by the story that it was widely believed that the titular Elzéard Bouffier was in fact a real person. Sadly, this was not true.
